May We Never Lose Our Wonder

Let us approach the cross with childlike hearts. May our hearts never harden. May we never lose our childlike wonder. Lord, restore our wonder if we have lost it somewhere along the way. May we always be eager to run to You and be held in Your love.

We adults face many challenges—personal and global. The outer world, from the bubbles we create, can affect us deeply without our even realizing it. One day you’re standing in your kitchen with a cold cup of coffee, wondering where your playfulness went. When did your heart become hardened? Anxiety rushes in and you begin to ponder every little thing you’ve said and done. We start out feeling that everyone is good, and somewhere along the way it can turn into believing everyone is bad and must prove they are good.

Let us shift our thoughts back to childlike wonder. Let us remember that each of us is a child of God. He loves us all. Run to our Heavenly Father and ask Him to restore your heart and mind—to restore your family, friends, neighbors, indeed all of humanity. Turn off the news. Don’t watch. Don’t listen. Go jump in a puddle; catch snowflakes on your tongue. Build a colorful igloo with your kids and make homemade ice cream. Spend hours reading a fantastic book. Meditate on our Lord’s words.
